Company Overview

FIO Automotive Canada supplies high quality welded assemblies for integration into mass production automobiles. The highly automated welding process permanently joins stamped components in a cost-effective process. Team Members set components into jigs to control assembly dimensions. Robotic welding systems apply one of three types of welding processes: Electrical Resistance, Gas Metal Arc, and Laser Beam. The finished product combines with other unibody components to form a vehicle chassis.

Summary

We are seeking a Production Supervisor in our welding department to join our dynamic team at FIO Automotive. This role is crucial for overseeing production operations and ensuring that our manufacturing processes meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. As a supervisor, you will play a key role in driving team performance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Major Responsibilities:

Health, Safety and Environmental

  • Ensure all safety regulations and procedures are followed as well as demonstrate due diligence in correcting non-conformances.
  • Conduct safety audits in the areas of PPE, wellness, 5S, JHSEC, Fire Prevention and lock-out activities.
  • Participate in JHSEC and actively work toward resolutions of safety concerns.
  • Safely follow Emergency Preparedness Response Plan and safely execute EPRP exercises in your area of responsibility.
  • Follow FIO’s Environmental Policy and participate in programs that enhance environmental performance.

Quality

  • Ensure process quality by managing processes in your area i.e. confirming start-up checks, reviewing process quality checks and scrap and rework reports.
  • Attend and lead QPR meetings to ensure full understanding of quality status and need for corrective action.
  • Lead 8-step problem solving activity.
  • Prepare quality alerts and change points and ensure Team Member understanding through training and audits.
  • Audit packaging instructions and ensure full compliance. Take actions to correct non-conformances.

Delivery

  • Ensure delivery of product through review of delivery tools i.e. Heijunka box, site survey and One Way Kandan delivery,
  • Complete One Way Kanban application audits and take action if necessary.
  • Review and monitor shipping boards to ensure understanding of current status and impact on future shipments.
  • Report Daily Build Attainment and support overtime planning. Scan inventory report and ensure accuracy to production plan.

Production Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and coach resources as required. Foster “lead by example” philosophy on the shop floor.
  • Monitor Team Member performance and coach.
  • Attend various communication meetings including daily operations mtg., Group Leader transition mtg. (zone control review).
  • Prep Team Leader’s before the shift and observe shift start/end meetings daily.
  • Review manpower to ensure proper placement of resources and dissemination of information. Update roster as needed.
  • Adjust daily plan based on changes to Production Plan
  • Conduct various audits including Kamishibai/cell audits, Team Leader report, supply chutes, labels and mins, Dashboard and cell performance, changeover activities, Kaizen suggestion activities and follow-up etc.
  • Update Team Member training plan and submit to TMR for versatility matrix input, maintain Kamishibai Training Board in Zones
  • Evaluate and convey Team Member performance through formal and informal performance management systems. i.e., Performance reviews, coaching, discipline etc. Investigate and diffuse conflict, escalating to Management as per Escalation Procedure
  • Investigate customer complaints as required, contain issues and assist in the development of permanent corrective actions that prevent the recurrence.
  • Serve as management representative during 2nd shift operations to authorize expedites, supplemental orders or any actions necessary to meet production goals and in accordance with corporate directives.
  • Ensure all applicable production/maintenance reports and documents needed for daily reporting are properly completed and filed.
  • Complete attendance reports, accident investigations, notice of nonconformance, document dangerous or disruptive behaviour and notify managers. Provide written and verbal communication to other departments as appropriate when issues still require resolutions.
  • Identify and facilitate internal training requirements.
  • Ensure Each Team Leader within your Group completes minimum 1 Mini-Circle Activity per Fiscal Year
  • Lead and complete minimum one Jishuken per Fiscal Year

Cost

  • Seek opportunities for cost reduction and continually improve current processes, reporting methods and documentation to ensure efficient operations.
  • Complete Dayforce authorizations daily, updating TM assignments as required and confirming Authorized Time Worked compared to Dayforce values, correcting where required.
  • Manage overtime scheduling and Team Member hours based off demand and Management direction
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • 5 years of automotive manufacturing experience and 5 years of supervision.
  • Sound judgment in decision making and establishing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills including written and verbal.
  • 8D or equivalent problem-solving technique.
  • Good computer skills including use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Abide by all Company Policies, maintain attendance within company guidelines.
