Under the direction of the Plant Manager, manage the production processes to ensure accurate and timely shipping, receiving and processing of steel/parts for distribution and customer orders. Will function as a working production supervisor as needed. Promote high employee morale, ensure adherence of all safety and quality procedures. Maintain warehouse standards and maintenance schedules. This is second shift position Monday through Thursday - 3pm - 130am.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Assign work to employees to meet planned shipping schedule. Check and prioritize shipments and customer orders as required. Establish production goals and communicate to the team.
- Ensure shipments received are accurate and quality standards are efficient workflow is maintained.
- Evaluate and determine best shipping methods, select and establish working relationships with carriers.
- Monitor work activities in department to ensure work quality standards and planned activity or production schedules are maintained. Oversee and coach employees to ensure they meet performance standards.
- Supervise the preparation of required shipping and receiving paperwork, and train employees as needed.
- Maintain good housekeeping conditions and safe operating practices. Enforce safety guidelines and the safe use of equipment and PPE.
- Investigate any unusual operational, shipping, receiving or parts issues and take necessary corrective action.
- Assist with work activities as necessary to maintain the flow of work in the department.
- Monitor the inspection and status of non-conforming products. Check production output to make sure it meets quality standards.
- Eliminate any problem situations thru corrective action.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for consideration an applicant should possess the following skills.
- Experience: Proven experience as a Production Supervisor or in a similar role.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with various manufacturing machinery and tools.
- Leadership: Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and solve issues efficiently.
- Education: High school diploma is required; a degree in a technical field is advantageous.
Should possess the ability to read and comprehend, in English, simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for prolonged periods; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
