Job summary

  • Minimum 5 years of pharmacy work experience.

Why this role is important?

We are hiring a Supervisor, Production. The scheduled shift will be Monday to Friday with requirements to work some statutory holidays and weekends and be flexible to cover other shifts based on business needs.

The Supervisor Production will assist the Pharmacy Operations Management Team in overseeing the day-to-day workflow process of their team within Operations and to ensure optimal customer service delivery and the needs of the staff and the organization are met. The Supervisor will lead efforts to integrate, standardize and reinforce the processes and protocols required to provide the best services to facilities and clients in full compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice standards. The Supervisor will provide coaching and leadership to their team and actively participate in providing expert support for the achievement of daily team and company objectives. The incumbent will facilitate an efficient, professional, and responsible workflow for the team and ensure the successful integration of team members into the pharmacy. You will take ownership and find more ways to care about our local Shoppers Drug Mart stores in a career at Shoppers Drug Mart Store Support. Additionally , you will provide great service, specific expertise, and actionable advice to support Associate-Owners and their staff in delivering the best health, beauty, and convenience services to Canadians.

As a Supervisor, Production, you will also be responsible for performing the functions of a team member necessary, including proper fulfillment of orders.

What do you do:

  • Oversee the workflow processes to effectively prioritize and manage efficiencies within the team of pharmacy assistants, registered technicians, and pharmacists
  • Regularly meet with the Pharmacy Management Team as required to share information, solve problems, improve efficiencies, and develop policies and procedures to ensure optimal pharmacy operations and meeting the needs of the customers.
  • Recommend, implement, and drive continuous improvement activities through then implementation of change management processes, and best practices
  • Organize and manage the workloads and priorities of the team.
  • Improve customer experience through process and people development; show measurable results
  • Contribute to management of incidents and near misses in the appropriate time frame
  • Ensure patient/resident confidentiality and privacy is protected
  • Foster a ground-up culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement that delivers measurable qualitative and quantitative results
  • Ensure workflow and all project deadlines are met
  • Ensure schedule stability that allows for maximum return on efficiencies
  • Responsible to hire new staff in accordance with business needs and plan and implement the training of these new hires
  • Provide effective leadership and regular coaching to team members to maximize productivity and their development and to keep them informed on current and new processes.
  • Regularly review operations and employee performance indicators, including necessary documentation to ensure objectives are met; with assistance from the Pharmacy Operations Management Team, ensure appropriate performance management practices are incorporated, including onboarding of new hires, goal setting, and regular feedback.
  • Lead and motivate the team to achieve aggressive operational/performance goals for the site and develop organizational talent
  • Maintain a collaborative and productive working relationship with other members of the management team and other departments
  • Provide guidance to team members on building strong relationships within the site by reinforcing and expecting use of CORE values and Blue Culture
  • In addition to team leadership and administrative duties, the team lead may spend a portion of time performing job duties of the team members
  • Ensure proper daily staffing levels to optimize the performance of the operation and the staff.
  • Ensure proper receipt, storage maintenance, and security of pharmaceuticals and other inventory, and company property
  • Ensure the effective completion of all tasks within the operation
  • Ensure employee compliance with guidelines and standards for the operation
  • Support the production team to ensure prescriptions are produced with 100% accuracy and that delivery timelines are met for all stores
  • Follow best practices during ordering, receiving, and inventory management (cycle counts, holding tank, if applicable)
  • Monitor the team’s error rate and follow up as required to minimize any repeat occurrences

What will you need:

  • A minimum of three (5) years of pharmacy work experience
  • A minimum of one (1) year of leadership experience; demonstrated ability to manage others and experience building highly effective teams, and a fun and rewarding culture
  • Leadership and management qualification or willingness to obtain is considered an asset
  • Strong leadership skills, demonstrated ability to manage others while adhering to company values and policies
  • Knowledge of current pharmacy operations is an asset. However, one must demonstrate the ability to acquire satisfactory working knowledge within three months.
  • Strong computer skills such as email communication and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to lead and influence cross functional teams
  • Comfortable in dealing with ambiguity; ability to manage multiple priorities in a regulated
  • Strong relationship building capabilities and capacity to work in a fast paced, multiple project environment
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Team player and able to work with minimal supervision
  • High attention to detail
  • Must be flexible to work various shift times is required, including weekdays, weekends, and statutory holiday
