Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Proven supervisory experience within the manufacturing industry; experience in the plastics sector is an asset.
  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience within a fast-paced, continuous process Canadian manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience managing and supervising in a union-represented environment is helpful.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sharp production focus with a drive for accurate results.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and technical mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft, ERP skills.
  • Purchasing experience will be an asset.
  • This position requires the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship or immigration restrictions.
  • Any other responsibilities deemed necessary by leadership team.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement the company’s safety program to ensure safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment.
  • Has the primary duty of managing a department and directs the work of two or more subordinates.
  • Recommend the hiring, firing, discipline, promotion, demotion of employees within span of control.
  • Resolves worker grievances / complaints or submits unsettled grievances to next level of management for action.
  • Effectively communicate departmental and plant wide goals to employees in a productive manner.
  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plan production operations, while establishing priorities and sequencing for manufacturing products.
  • Reviewing production scrap and operating reports and resolving operational manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Familiarity with 5s, KPI's, problem investigation, standardized work and auditing process for compliance.
  • Developing or revising standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Compiling, storing and retrieving and speaking with / to production data.
  • Maintaining a working relationship with the union by flowing the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
