Job summary

Starfield LION is a leading manufacturer of PPE for firefighters and first responders in North America, producing turnout suits and station wear. We seek a Production Scheduler to plan, schedule, and coordinate manufacturing activities ensuring on-time delivery and optimal resource use.

The role collaborates with Production, Sales, Customer Service, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams, owning scheduling outputs and communicating changes to stakeholders. Location: Canada, Ontario.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or relative industry experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in production planning, production scheduling, and managing MRO within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to support operational and business objectives.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, Epicor, Plex, or similar platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, data analysis, and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer demand, inventory requirements, material availability, labor resources, and production capacity.
  • Analyze capacity, equipment availability, labor constraints, and material supply to optimize production efficiency and support on-time delivery performance.
  • Coordinate with Production, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams to ensure production plans are realistic, achievable, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Take ownership of all production scheduling outputs, ensuring schedules are accurate, up-to-date, and readily available to operational teams.
  • Maintain, update, and communicate schedule changes resulting from customer priorities, material shortages, production issues, or capacity adjustments.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for schedule-related inquiries and provide timely updates to production, management, customer service, sales, and other departments.
  • Liaise with Sales and Customer Service teams to review upcoming opportunities, forecasted demand, customer requirements, and new business initiatives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to allocate manufacturing capacity for both existing and prospective business opportunities.
  • Participate in business planning meetings to identify and communicate capacity risks, supply chain constraints, and production impacts.
  • Work proactively with internal stakeholders to manage changes in demand and customer expectations.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Starting Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000

Position Summary:

The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating manufacturing activities to ensure efficient production flow, optimal utilization of resources, and on-time delivery of customer orders. This role also manages the repair, and Operations (MRO) materials required to support uninterrupted plant operations. Working closely with Production, Sales, Customer Service, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams, the successful candidate will balance customer demand, production capacity, and material availability while serving as the primary owner of production scheduling outputs and communications.

Production Scheduling
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on customer demand, inventory requirements, material availability, labor resources, and production capacity.
  • Analyze manufacturing capacity, equipment availability, labor constraints, and material supply to optimize production efficiency and support on-time delivery performance.

MRO Procurement
  • Manage procurement activities for MRO materials, spare parts, tooling, consumables, and operational supplies.
  • Create, issue, and manage purchase orders to ensure the timely availability of critical MRO materials and services.
  • Establish and monitor reorder points, safety stock levels, and supplier lead times to minimize inventory shortages and excess stock.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, inventory optimization, and supplier performance improvements.
