Profile

Reporting to the Director, Flight Operations, the Production Pilot is responsible for hangar, ground, and flight tests to certify new aircraft, particularly the Dash 8. The role includes developing flight manuals and checklists, repositioning aircraft, and requires familiarity with TC, FAA, or EASA-approved engineering flight test processes.

Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Conduct production test flights to certify aircraft safety and compliance.
2. Perform acceptance flights with customers.
3. Fly the Dash 8 under De Havilland’s internal operations.
4. Execute engineering test flights for modifications or new equipment.
5. Perform demo flights for international sales and marketing.
6. Conduct international delivery flights.
7. Deliver entry into service pilot training at customer bases.
8. Generate detailed reports on aircraft/system discrepancies.
9. Contribute to technical manuals (SOPs, FTPs, QRH).
10. Complete all pre- and post-flight documentation accurately and timely.
11. Plan flights and trips, ensuring all logistics are addressed.
12. Notify the company of aircraft location, record flight times, and report defects post-flight.
13. Conduct crew briefings.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as pilot in a multi-crew aircraft.
• Current instrument rating and valid Class 1 medical certificate.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Extensive knowledge of engineering flight testing for Transport Canada aircraft.
• Proven aircraft commander experience, fostering positive relationships.
• International experience or training captain background is a plus.
• Technical background in aircraft design, certification, or training is an asset.
• Canadian Airline Transport Pilot License with at least 3,000 hours total flying time and 500 hours command on Dash 8.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends, and travel extensively.
