Job summary

AGS Automotive Systems in Canada is seeking a Production Operator to support end-of-line unloading and safe operation of stamping presses. You will follow procedures, maintain a clean area, and ensure guards and safety equipment are used.

In Set-Up and Operate Skillset, you will independently set up parts, check dies, assist with adjustments, and report misfeeds to supervision. Experience in manufacturing is preferred, with strong English communication and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Unloads parts at end of lines and operates stamping presses safely.
• Loads and unloads parts, placing finished parts in racks or bins.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area and follows safety procedures.
• Inspects parts with gauges and charting as required.
• Completes paperwork pertaining to the job and reports misfeeds or faults to supervisor.
• Ensures OHSA Section 28 compliance and proper use of safety equipment.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Reporting to the Production Supervisor the Production Operator is responsible for, but not limited to, the unloading of parts at the end of the lines as well as the safe operation of manual stamping presses.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

• Adheres to Technical System Procedures and Instructions.
• Must be capable of repeated standing, bending and lifting.
• Must have good communication skills and be capable of learning same as it applies to Statistical Process Control.
• Load and unload parts from front and rear of press, placing finished parts in racks or bins.
• Must be able to work and operate machinery in a safe and efficient manner. Ensure machine guards are in place and material handled in a safe manner. Must wear appropriate safety equipment as specified.
• Inspection to be visual or as required with gauges, die models, etc. Charting may be required.
• Always maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Be able to detect faulty operation of equipment being used as well as faulty material.
• Be able to adjust air and mechanical lockout devices and determine when dies need sharpening on manual stamping presses.
• Complete any paperwork that pertains to the job.
• As required, sort and rework defective material, repack and dispose of scrap.
• Ensure the standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

We are specifically looking for someone to work in our Set-Up and Operate Skillset:

• Independently setup all parts including automatic feeds and make any adjustments necessary
• Ensure guarding of press to meet requirements and make sure all safety equipment is functioning at all times
• Capable of inspecting parts to approved sample or gage and check when parts are running
• Must know description, correct job number, packing specifications, width and thickness of material for part being setup
• Understand working principle of the dies being setup. Advise when they need sharpening or repairs. Capable of changing run markers, replace punches die buttons
• Reports all misfeeds or 2 pieces in die, etc to supervisor
• Complete setup sheets and other paperwork as required
• Place die into press or remove die from press & store properly using lift truck or crane
• Bring coil of steel, cradled or otherwise, to presses
• Ensure the standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met
• Perform any other related duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

Rate of Pay:

Production Operator base rate: $19.50/hr plus skillset rate (while in training and fully trained): +$4.45/hr = $23.95/hr

Shift premiums: +$0.90/hr (afternoon shift); +$1.10/hr (night shift).
