Job Summary:

At Teledyne FLIR - Waterloo, we lead in high-performance, reliable small unmanned aircraft (drones) for commercial, government, defense, and military clients.

As part of the Operations team, our Production Assemblers ensure product quality and performance before delivery. All roles require teamwork and a passion for doing things correctly. We solve problems efficiently and consider all stakeholders in our work.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and disassemble electrical and mechanical components and systems.
  • Test electrical and mechanical components and systems.
  • Collaborate during New Product Introduction builds.
  • Provide feedback to engineering and operations regarding first-time assemblies.
  • Perform repairs on assemblies that fail post-assembly testing.
  • Assist in product validation and flight testing as needed.
  • Provide hands-on training to other Production Operators.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives like Kaizen.
  • Maintain 5S standards in your work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills/Experience:

Job Duties:

  • Assemble and disassemble electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Test systems thoroughly.
  • Collaborate during new product builds.
  • Provide feedback on assembly processes.
  • Perform repairs on failed assemblies.
  • Assist with product validation and flight tests.
  • Train other assemblers.
  • Engage in Continuous Improvement (Kaizen).
  • Maintain 5S standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills/Experience:

  • Eligible for certification under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and authorized to work in Canada.
  • 5+ years in electronics assembly with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficient in English, both written and spoken.
  • Ability to interpret assembly instructions and technical documentation.
  • Experience with hand assembly tools.
  • Knowledge of PCBA inspection (IPC preferred).
  • Soldering skills are an asset.
  • Basic troubleshooting skills are a plus.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment, environmental chambers, or optical instruments is preferred.
