Overview

Title: Production Operator

CGC Inc. is a leading marketer, manufacturer and distributor of gypsum wallboard products, interior finishing material and suspended acoustical ceilings. With locations around the world, CGC and USG have the resources, plants, products and people to build walls, ceilings and careers.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for operating production equipment, including troubleshooting and making the necessary adjustments to ensure product and quality specifications are met.
  • Adhere to all safety and housekeeping requirements within a manufacturing setting.
  • Recording production data and other results in the manner required.
  • Perform visual quality checks regarding product defects and cleanliness.
  • Apply basic maintenance skills to help service equipment.
  • Expected to take a role in all plant safety initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships within the department and with other departments at the plant.
  • Assist with the implementation of CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, Visual Work Inspections, etc. as required.
  • Adaptable to scheduling requirements including shiftwork, assignment of overtime, working weekends, etc. where and when applicable with advanced notice.
  • Accountable for updating LEAN metrics and supporting continuous improvement efforts by using Lean Six Sigma methods to make processes more efficient and reduce waste.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Able to work in a manufacturing setting in a safe manner and follow all plant safety and housekeeping rules.
  • Able to learn to operate and troubleshoot plant equipment, interpret verbal and written work instructions, and apply basic computer skills required for data entry and reporting.
  • Able to take measurements as needed to verify product is within specifications.
  • Able to learn basic maintenance skills, including familiarity with common hand tools and how to properly use them (hammer, wrench, screwdrivers, pliers, putty knife, etc.).
  • Effective teamwork, problem solving, and communication skills needed with all coworkers.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Periodic travel may be required during the training period (US/CAN).

  • Hourly Wage: $33.50
