Job description

Kepak is one of Europe’s leading food producers, seeking a Knife Skills Operative to join our team at our Bodmin site. As a Knife Skills Operative, your role will be essential in ensuring that our meat products are prepared to the highest standards of quality and safety.

Our 12 manufacturing plants across Ireland and the UK are dedicated to producing innovative and nutritionally valuable food products, all while remaining grounded in our communities and the natural world.

Responsibilities
  1. Use knives and other equipment to prepare and process meat products according to production specifications particularly being able to break jaws, trim pluck’s, and trim a wide range of offal products.
  2. Ensure that meat products are cut and trimmed to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  3. Keep work area clean and follow all safety regulations and procedures.
  4. Meet production goals and work as a team to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  5. Properly store and handle meat products to prevent waste and spoilage.
  6. Perform quality inspections on meat products to ensure they meet established standards.
  7. Continuously learn and improve knowledge of knife skills and meat processing techniques.
  8. The ability to work at height (Training Given).

You will start work at 06:30 in the morning and work until production is finished, Monday to Friday with weekends off. This role offers a full-time contract based on 45 hours per week; any hours worked over the 45 will be paid at time & quarter of your hourly rate. You will have 2 x 30 min breaks per day.

Depending on your experience, you will start on £12.44 per hour, this can increase the more you learn and develop, with the top earning potential being £19.44 per hour.

Requirements
  1. Previous experience in a knife skills or meat processing role preferred.
  2. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production goals.
  3. Attention to detail and ability to follow strict production specifications and safety procedures.
  4. Flexibility to work different shifts and overtime as needed.
  5. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  6. Physical ability to stand for long periods of time, and lift and move heavy items.
  7. Excellent communication skills, including fluent English language proficiency.
