Job description

Job Summary

The Production Manager organizes and directs critical production workflow daily. This position works closely with the VP of Operations and is ultimately responsible for directing and coordinating the efficient manufacturing operations of the facility in line with the production schedule. The Production Manager is also responsible for resource allocation and execution.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Act as a model of personal integrity, high productivity, and consistently safe working habits for the manufacturing team.
  • Achieves results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains workflow by monitoring process steps; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; correcting malfunctions; fostering cooperation within and between departments.
  • Executes production plans by organizing and assigning personnel; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results.
  • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
  • Provides manufacturing information through performance records analysis, answering questions, and responding to requests.
  • Ensures a safe and clean work environment by educating personnel on equipment and resource use, and maintaining policy compliance.
  • Maintains facilities and equipment, introducing TPM.
  • Fosters 5S activities and leads lean culture initiatives.
  • Collaborates with the CI team to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Physical:
    • Sitting, standing, walking, carrying, stooping, lifting, reaching.
    • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Mental:
    • Math skills.
    • Proficiency in English (oral and written).
    • Effective communication with multiple departments.

Education & Skills

  • Post-secondary education in a technical, engineering, or relevant field.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings, data, manuals, and determine specifications and procedures.
  • Proficient in English language, both oral and written.
  • Clear and concise communicator.
  • Daily interdepartmental communication skills.

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of MRP systems.
  • Experience leading teams to comply with ASME, ISO 9001, and WSIB standards.
  • Understanding of manufacturing machinery, equipment, and tooling.

Working Conditions

  • Hours: 7:30 am to 4 pm, Monday to Friday.
