Overview:
The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production process within the manufacturing facility. This leadership role ensures efficient operations, compliance with safety and quality standards, and adherence to production schedules. The Production Manager leads a team of supervisors and operators, collaborates with cross-functional departments, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity, minimize waste, and maintain a safe work environment.

What you will be doing:
Production Management

  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily extrusion line operations for optimal productivity.

  • Monitor and adjust production schedules to meet customer and business demands.

  • Ensure production activities align with company standards, policies, and safety protocols.

  • Coordinate with other departments to meet goals and resolve production challenges.

  • Analyze production and operating reports to troubleshoot and resolve issues, reducing downtime.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, motivate, and develop production staff, including supervisors and operators.

  • Provide regular training on production processes and safety standards.

  • Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Model leadership behaviors as a dependable and approachable role model.

Quality Control

  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure all products meet specifications.

  • Identify non-conforming material (NCM) and lead corrective actions using root cause analysis.

  • Implement and monitor quality assurance practices and track production metrics.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of raw material blending and extrusion practices.

Process Optimization

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.

  • Lead lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to enhance production efficiency.

  • Work with engineering to improve equipment and production processes.

  • Ensure correct shutdown procedures for extrusion and downstream equipment.

Resource Management

  • Manage raw materials, labor, and equipment resources to ensure production flow.

  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with procurement for timely supply.

  • Oversee equipment maintenance schedules and coordinate necessary repairs.

Safety Compliance

  • Enforce OSHA and other safety regulations across all production activities.

  • Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Promote a strong culture of safety and accountability across shifts.

Reporting and Documentation

  • Prepare reports on production performance (output, efficiency, quality, downtime).

  • Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and personnel activity.

  • Contribute to long-term strategic production planning with senior leadership.

What you must have:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Proven leadership in training, coaching, performance management, and employee relations

  • Deep understanding of manufacturing safety, quality, and operational best practices

  • Experience with continuous improvement (Lean, OSHA 10, Six Sigma preferred)

  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills; fosters ownership and teamwork

  • Comfortable managing performance and driving accountability at all levels

  • Ability to stand for long periods, bend, walk and lift (up to 40-50lbs)

  • Use of a computer for scheduling, production entry, reporting and personnel management

Salary/Rate Range: $85,000.00 -$105,000.00
