Job summary

MiTek Canada in Calgary is seeking a Production Manager to lead a production area, ensuring safety, quality, customer satisfaction and cost control. You will direct the facility operations, plan staffing, identify issues early, and supervise production, quality, safety and training functions.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on leadership experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience leading and developing a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Equivalent blend of experience and education acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and ensure safety compliance in the assigned area and in accordance with company requirements and best practices.
  • Ensure quality assurance programs are followed, including checking production and assisting with machine set-ups.
  • Consistently lead teams to meet production and shipping goals to meet or exceed customer demand.
  • Coordinate and oversee training for safety and manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels to create production plans that meet requirements.
  • Direct, assist and evaluate production associates in daily and long-term goals.
  • Interact professionally with co-workers, vendors and customers.
  • Prioritize issues, analyze situations and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor efficiencies to achieve best cost and on-time delivery.
  • Review and approve employee time and schedules, including overtime management.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with capital expenditure planning to improve safety and efficiency.
  • Assist with equipment troubleshooting and maintenance communications.

A Brief Overview

The Production Manager will play a key role in leading and providing overall direction to a team of production personnel in order to meet safety, quality, customer experience, production output and cost control objectives. Provide direction and leadership to the facility/area operations. Involves developing staffing requirements, identifying potential problems in sufficient time for corrective action, and supervising the performance of program functional task elements such as production, quality assurance, safety, and training. The Production Manager will work closely and collaborate with various internal departments, vendors and customers.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do
  • Lead and ensure safety compliance in the assigned area and in accordance with company requirements and best practices.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance programs including physically checking production and assisting with machine set-ups.
  • Consistently lead teams to meet production and/or shipping goals to meet or exceed customer demand.
  • Coordinate and oversee training for safety and manufacturing operations.
  • Monitor inventory levels necessary to create production plans in order to meet requirements.
  • Direct, assist and evaluate production associates in both daily and long-term requirements and goals.
  • Ability to interact professionally with others including co-workers, vendors and customers.
  • Ability to prioritize issues, analyze situations and implement effective corrective actions.
  • Monitors and maintains efficiencies to achieve best cost and on-time delivery.
  • Review and approve employee time and schedules, including overtime management.
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assists with Capital Expenditure planning to improve safety and operational efficiencies.
  • Assists with equipment troubleshooting and communications with maintenance on needs.

Qualifications
  • 5+ Years of relevant hands-on leadership experience required
  • Relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Experience leading and developing a team
Physical Demands

This role is primarily performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role. As part of the essential functions of this role, the individual will need to access a factory and be exposed to temperature changes. This may will result in being exposed to noise, vibration, chemicals/fumes and navigate around factory machines. The role is required on-site five days per week.
