The Opportunity:
The Production Lead Hand plays a key role in supporting the Production Manager in overseeing and coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Shop production floor. This role ensures that production schedules are met efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance. The Production Lead Hand will be expected to be hands on working closely with the production team, providing direction, support, and training to ensure smooth workflows and consistent output. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to operational excellence within the Water Technology Industry.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the production team members to achieve daily production targets and deadlines.
- Coordinate and prioritize production activities based on schedules, customer requirements, and resource availability.
- Monitor workflows to identify bottlenecks and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, coordinating with procurement to avoid shortages or overstocking.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and usage of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ensure all production processes meet established quality standards and comply with company policies and procedures.
- Support Production Manager in maintaining a safe and clean work environment by enforcing safety protocols and conducting regular inspections.
- Report and address any safety concerns or incidents in a timely manner.
- Provide regular updates to the Production Manager on production status, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with other departments, such as business development, engineering, operations and maintenance, quality, and logistics, to ensure seamless operations.
- Identify areas for process optimization and recommend solutions to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
- Support the implementation of new technologies or systems to enhance operations.
- Completion of timesheets and expenses for reporting staff.
Key Qualifications, Education, and Skills:
- Proven experience in a production or manufacturing environment, preferably within the water technology, environmental services, or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of production workflows, quality assurance processes, and health & safety standards.
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field, such as manufacturing, project management, engineering, environmental sciences, or a related discipline.
- Strong time management and prioritization abilities to coordinate multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Proactive approach to identifying and resolving production issues while minimizing disruptions.
- Commitment to maintaining high-quality standards and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with production tools, equipment, and software used in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and respond to changing priorities with flexibility.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with team members, management, and cross-functional departments.
- Strong interpersonal skills for building positive relationships across departments and driving teamwork.
