Production Designer (Print-Focused – Retail Signage)

Help Bring a National Retail Brand to Life—One Sign at a Time.

Our client is hiring a Production Designer to join a high-performing internal creative studio. In this Consultant role, you will be responsible for producing thousands of printed signs and marketing materials seen across retail stores in Canada. This role is ideal for early-career designers with a strong eye for layout, a love for precision, and a desire to see their work in the real world.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce point-of-sale (POS) signage and print marketing materials using InDesign templates and brand guidelines
  • Execute high-volume production work based on monthly retail cycles (expect to contribute to 500–600 signs per cycle)
  • Follow detailed instructions from marketing briefs and Excel reports to place content, images, and pricing into templated layouts
  • Ensure print readiness by managing layout accuracy, formatting consistency, and brand compliance
  • Collaborate with a friendly and diverse team of designers across Canada, the U.S., and Europe
  • Participate in the evolution of the brand, as updated style guides and templates roll out each year

Tools You’ll Use

  • Adobe Creative Suite(InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator – latest version)
  • WorkfrontandSharePoint(for project management and workflows)
  • Microsoft Excel and Word (for interpreting briefs and input files)

This Role Is a Great Fit If You:

  • Are fluent in Adobe InDesign (this is 95% of your work), and familiar with Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Have 2–3 years of professional design experience with a focus on print production or marketing collateral
  • Bring aportfoliothat highlights print work—especially signage, flyers, or templated marketing materials
  • Can work quickly and accurately in a template-based environment
  • Are able to follow detailed instructions, brand guidelines, and file naming conventions with care and consistency
  • Enjoy collaborating with internal teams and receiving feedback constructively
  • Are organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing tight timelines and repetitive tasks
  • Live in the Toronto area and are open to occasional hybrid/in-office work (though this is not currently required)

Bonus Points If You:

  • Have experience working in retail, in-house marketing teams, or signage programs
  • Have used project management tools like Workfront
  • Have a background in print specs, production prep, or pre-press

The target hiring compensation range for this role is $26 to $32/hr. Compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to education, relevant work experience, relevant certifications, and location.
