Sony Pictures Imageworks is seeking a Senior Production Coordinator to join our Vancouver location!

Summary:

The Senior Production Coordinator reports directly to the Production Department Manager. The role supports APM(s), DPM(s), and Producers by coordinating a team of artists on a show, possibly across multiple departments. The ideal candidate must have extensive coordinating experience in VFX Feature Film, CG Animation, and/or Game production, with strong people and self-management skills. A minimum of 4 years experience in these areas is required.

What you'll be doing:

  • Preparing playlists for team touchbases and rounds.
  • Setting team calendar for regular meetings (Google Calendar).
  • Tracking shot data and reporting into tracking/asset management databases (Shotgrid).
  • Note-taking during team touchbases and rounds.
  • Communicating with clients during reviews and via email.
  • Translating supervisor/client comments from show dailies/shot reviews to artists (technical shot analysis is a bonus).
  • Liaising between artists, leads, and supervisors.
  • Facilitating artist/supervisor needs (workstations, tablets, software, meals, etc.).
  • Communicating kickbacks and notes affecting other departments.
  • Tracking inventory and driving workflow to meet artist bid days and quotas.
  • Problem-solving with supervisors/leads and APM to ensure targets are met.
  • Partnering with supervisors/leads and APM to evaluate artist abilities for shot assignments.
  • Dynamic problem solving and escalation of potential issues.
  • Mentoring junior production team members.
  • Motivating the team and maintaining high morale (including creative ideas for fun).
  • Monitoring team hours to ensure wellbeing and energy levels.
  • Assisting with artist overtime requests, ensuring hours are appropriate.

What we need to see:

At least 3 years as a Production Coordinator in VFX Feature Film, CG Animation, or Game production.

Technical and Operational Skills:

  • Advanced understanding of frontend/backend workflows for digital production (Assets, Layout, Animation, CFX, FX, Lighting, Compositing).
  • Strong knowledge of VFX, CG, or Game scheduling.
  • Proficiency with Shotgrid.
  • Ability to navigate hardware/software license queries.
  • Experience tracking shot work within bid days and quotas.
  • Proactive scheduling and resource management.
  • Willingness to learn scheduling and tracking software used at Imageworks.
  • Ability to acquire resources and elements for shot production.
  • Problem-solving inventory challenges.
  • Ability to set up review rooms independently and troubleshoot technical issues.

The anticipated base salary is $25.96-$27.00 per hour, with benefits including healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSPs, sick and vacation leave, and standard increases. Actual salary depends on experience, education, certifications, and location.
