Job Summary

The Live Event and Media Production Team manages a variety of festivals and events throughout the year. Working mainly at Meadowvale Theatre, Paramount Fine Food Centre, and Celebration Square, you will lead teams during setup and operation of different events at each venue. As part of a larger team, you will assist with all aspects of event setup and operation. This role offers valuable hands-on experience with industry-standard equipment and encourages ongoing skill development.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with clients and staff to meet the needs of each event or production.
  2. Provide solutions to show-related questions or issues and direct clients to supervisors when necessary.
  3. Coordinate crews to ensure setups are completed on schedule.
  4. Work with teams to configure systems and equipment according to event requirements.
  5. Ensure all systems are functional and safe for use.
  6. Operate production equipment such as video switchers, replay units, audio consoles, lighting boards, cameras, and communication systems.
  7. Review production paperwork and develop operational plans for events, considering environment and safety factors.
  8. Design shows based on available inventory, including all related documentation.
  9. Coordinate all production aspects on-site.
  10. Identify hazards and develop operational plans to mitigate risks.
  11. Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  12. Use escalation processes appropriately when needed.
  13. Train staff in specific disciplines such as lighting, audio, video, and rigging.
  14. Document equipment issues and report problems to supervisors.
  15. Disassemble, clean, or repair equipment components.
  16. Produce event and maintenance reports as required.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Post-secondary education in a technical field.
  • Over 5 years of industry experience.
  • More than 3 years in a leadership role related to production.
  • 1-3 years of design experience in lighting, audio, video, or rigging.
  • Ability to lift supplies and equipment.
  • Standard First Aid certification required.
  • Experience with working at heights and lift training is an asset.
Additional Details

Hourly Rate/Salary: $22.78 – $30.38

Hours of Work: Up to 40 hours per week

Work Location: Meadowvale Community Theatre

Department/Division: CMS/Community Services Dept, CMS/Recreation & Culture Division, Culture & Events

Union Status: Non-Union
