Job description

1. Purpose

Define skill levels within the Operator position and establish an objective process for evaluating and assigning operators to these levels.

2. Scope

The skill and level system applies to all Operator levels.

3. Assessment Process

Initial assignment is based on work experience and skills assessed during the interview. Pay within the assigned level is reviewed during performance evaluations. Operators must meet the requirements for the next level to be considered for promotion.

Level 1 Assessment

• Conducted by Production Supervisor
• Approved by Plant Manager, Production Manager, and HR Manager

Level 2 Assessment

• Initial assessment by a Level 3 Operator
• Confirmation by Production Supervisor
• Approved by Plant Manager, Production Manager, and HR Manager

Level 3 Assessment

• Initial assessment by a Level 3 Operator
• Verification by Production Supervisor
• Confirmation by a second Production Supervisor
• Approved by Plant Manager, Production Manager, and HR Manager

4. Requirements

Level 1 Operator

• Operate full press assignment (1-3 presses)
• Maintain downstream equipment during normal conditions
• Complete logs and quality shots timely
• Understand box erecting, feeding, taping, and labeling processes
• Use palletizing system
• Keep work area clean, including outside the station
• Use manual palletizing when system is down

Level 2 Operator

• Meet all Level 1 requirements
• Operate downstream equipment during abnormal conditions
• Handle bulk at their press during normal conditions

Level 3 Operator

• Meet all Level 1 and 2 requirements
• Cross-train in other positions and cover when needed
• Serve as trainer and mentor for new operators
