Job description

Are you ready to become an essential part of our dedicated Production team? As a Production Assistant, you'll play a crucial role in our pastry production process, ensuring that everything runs smoothly and efficiently. This includes the responsibility of setting up our machines at the start of each shift to ensure seamless operations. Hours of work will be from 06 : 00 to 16 : 00, with 2 x 30-minute unpaid breaks.

We have two Production Assistant roles : one working 4 days out of 5 (Monday to Friday) with a rotating day off each week, and the second working Monday to Friday.

Starting salary is £12.50 per hour, with an enhanced rate of £15.63 per hour. The enhanced rate applies to hours between 20 : 00 and 06 : 00 and for hours over 37.5 per week.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Machine Setup : Responsible for the initial setup of production machines at the beginning of each shift, ensuring correct setup for the shift.
  • Line Operation : Operate the production line, maintaining optimal speed to match the number of hand crimpers working.
  • Supplying Pastry Bases : Keep hand lines well-supplied with pastry bases for the crimping team.
  • Depositor Operation : Operate depositors to ensure pastry bases are accurately filled and prepared.
  • Layered Products : Deposit vegetables onto bases for layered products accurately.
  • Waste Management : Collect and handle waste properly to maintain a clean environment.
  • Quality Control : Perform weight checks to ensure product standards.
  • Product Marking : Mark products for organization and traceability.
  • Decorative Touch : Apply decorative elements as needed.
  • Topping Application : Use topper equipment for toppings like herbs and rusk.
  • Glazer Operation : Operate glazers to ensure proper glaze coverage and speed.
