We’re Materialistic, a specialty fabric house providing green and blue screens, backdrops,drapery, technical fabrics and custom soft goods for films, television, and variousentertainment industries. We’re looking for a new Fabric and SewingProductionAssistant with a willingness to learn, and we hope that search ends now, with you. Production Assistant (Fabric and Sewing) Your days will be full of variety since our clients have various needs, both made to orderand maintenance sewing projects. This work will always keep you moving. You’ll be working closely with the team for the first few months to fulfill regular and customclient orders while familiarizing yourself with our products, materials, warehouse layoutand best practices. Your experience with fabrics and sewing will be your head start on what you’ll learn here. Practically speaking you will :
  • Sew with industrial machines
  • Handle custom manufacturing requests
  • Track projects and maintain inventory database
  • Draft patterns for a range of projects
  • Assess returned products and fabrics
  • Clean, as well as repair screens & materials The best person in this role is organized, can work independently, take initiative, bring new ideas to the table, and follow up on deliverables. Working at Materialistic This is a full-time permanent position, offering $17.20-$19 per hour, commensurate withexperience, plus vacation, overtime and benefits. You’ll work Monday to Friday in oursunlit warehouse in Etobicoke, from 9 : 00-5 : 00pm, with flexibility as needed. We’re a small company doing elite work. You’ll work closely with the owner, who has over25 years in the entertainment industries. This is your chance to become an expert infabrics and their role in film productions.   • 1 to 2 years of proven experience operating various sewing machines (Industrial sewing experience will be given preference)
  • Pattern drafting skills an asset
  • Physically fit and able to lift 50 lbs
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Post-secondary education in a fashion program or similar an asset
  • Experience in a customer service role is an asset
