Job summary

Air Canada is looking for a highly motivated Product Owner to join the IT Cargo Products team. The role links business needs with technical delivery, promotes Agile methods, and ensures a scalable product backlog aligned with priorities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, technology, or a related field.
  • At least three years in product ownership, business analysis, or digital delivery.
  • Experience with logistics or air cargo is a plus.
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product backlog, prioritize features, and align with business objectives.

  • Collaborate with Cargo business partners to identify digital improvement opportunities.

Air Canada is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Product Owner to join the Air Canada IT team. As a Product Owner within the Cargo Products team, the successful candidate will promote Agile working methods and continuous improvement within the Product teams and the business unit. They will build strong relationships with business partners, acting as a trusted resource for all technology-related requests and solutions. Their role will notably consist of providing timely knowledge and business cases to the management team, ensuring that impacts on business and products are communicated effectively.

The Product Owner acts as the link between business needs and technical delivery, ensuring that solutions are practical, scalable, and aligned with company priorities. This position requires excellent stakeholder management, the ability to translate complex operational processes into clear product requirements, and a commitment to continuously improving how teams deliver added value. The successful candidate must be customer-centric, have a passion for the travel industry, and be comfortable working in a highly dynamic, fast-paced environment that fosters collaboration and relies on a continuous product delivery model.

Responsibilities:
  • Assume responsibility for the product backlog, ensuring that features and improvements are clearly defined, prioritized, and aligned with business objectives.
  • Translate management methods and operational workflows into actionable user stories and clear acceptance criteria for development teams.
  • Collaborate with business partners in the Cargo space to understand operational challenges and identify opportunities for digital solutions that improve efficiency and user experience.
  • Organize discovery sessions and workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements, validate product direction, and refine solutions.
  • Work closely with Engineering teams during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and release planning to ensure efficient product delivery.
  • Ensure product features are delivered with clearly defined requirements, acceptance criteria, and stakeholder sign‑off.
  • Support the deployment of new tools, processes, and product features by collaborating with business units to encourage adoption and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with other Product-IT teams and business units to manage cross‑team dependencies and ensure solutions integrate effectively into Air Canada's technology ecosystem.
  • Create business requirement documents and formalize business cases for IT integration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, technology, or a related field.
  • At least three years of experience in product ownership, business analysis, or digital product delivery.
  • Three to five years of experience in IT or operations in a large enterprise utilizing logistics management systems, an asset.
  • Experience in the air cargo or logistics sector, an asset.
  • Knowledge of user acceptance testing and quality assurance testing, and skill in impact assessment.
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Experience managing complex environments involving multiple stakeholders and reconciling competing priorities among multiple business groups.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle tools such as Jira and Confluence.
  • Proven punctuality and reliability to foster overall team success in a fast‑paced environment.
