Job summary

Tailscale is hiring a Product Manager to own the end-to-end experience of building Tailscale-native applications—from TSNet to the tailscale CLI and Rust SDKs. You will shape reference architectures, onboarding flows, and developer tooling to enable thousands of embedded integrations.

You will report to the VP Product and collaborate with Rust, Go, and client engineering teams, driving the embedded developer journey from blog post to running embedded apps in customers’ environments.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in product management or software engineering moving into product with developer-facing product experience.
• Shipped developer-facing features (SDK, API, CLI, library) used in production.
• Credible conversation about API and SDK design in Go and/or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Own the roadmap for the native apps experience (TSNet, tailscale-rs, tailscale CLI).
• Define reference architectures, golden paths, and embedding patterns with docs, examples, and sample apps.
• Own the end-to-end developer experience: onboarding, API ergonomics, clear error messages, and robust docs and examples.
• Set the Rust SDK strategy: port capabilities, sequencing, and positioning for developers.
• Treat the CLI as a product: scripting ergonomics, automation surfaces, and CI/SRE usability.
