Job summary

Synopsys Canada ULC is seeking a Product Manager for Photonic Design and Simulation to own the roadmap for OptoCompiler and Lumerical. You will translate customer needs from semiconductor designers and optical engineers into clear requirements and drive cross-functional execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, optics, photonics, or a related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of product management experience in photonics, optics, simulation software, or closely related domains (or 3+ years with advanced degree).
• Deep understanding of photonic design workflows and simulation methods (FDTD, EME, FEEM).
• Direct experience with products like OptoCompiler, Lumerical, or adjacent platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to own a product roadmap and balance customer impact, technical risk, and business value.
• Strong technical communication skills for roadmaps, trade-offs, and business cases.

Responsibilities

• Own product strategy and roadmap for OptoCompiler and Lumerical across datacom, silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, foundries, AR/VR, and quantum computing.
• Translate customer input into clear product requirements and prioritized backlogs for R&D.
• Engage directly with customers at semiconductor companies, foundries, and research institutions to understand workflows and use cases.
• Make roadmap prioritization decisions informed by input from R&D, sales, applications engineering, and customer success.
• Lead product launches end-to-end: define release content, messaging, pricing/packaging, and internal/external evangelism.
• Support go-to-market by collaborating with Product Marketing on launch plans, webinars, conference presentations, and collateral.
• Monitor competitors and industry trends to identify opportunities and partnerships.
