Product Manager

Canadian Sell Side Equities

Location: Toronto, CA (hybrid) 2-3x a week onsite in downtown Toronto office

Employment Type: Contract with potential to convert to full-time

Pay Rate: $109-$123 CAD - DEO

Start Date: ASAP

Industry: Capital Markets / Trading Technology

We are seeking a Sell-Side Equity OMS Subject Matter Expert (SME) with deep domain experience in the Canadian equities market, ideally with hands-on knowledge of a well-established sell-side OMS platform commonly used in Canadian trading environments. This role is ideal for someone who has worked in technical production support of sell-side Order Management Systems (OMS) and is looking to transition into a Product Management function.

You will play a key role in helping modernize and replace an existing legacy OMS platform by evaluating workflows, regulatory constraints, and integration touchpoints.

This is a unique opportunity to move into a strategic and forward-looking product role while applying your deep knowledge of Canadian sell-side equity trading workflows, OMS behavior, and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a domain expert in Canadian sell-side equity OMS workflows
  • Work with traders, compliance, and technology teams to understand existing workflows, regulatory requirements, and OMS pain points
  • Help shape OMS behavior in compliance with IIROC/CSA regulations and Canadian exchange rules
  • Contribute to interface design, migration planning, and workflow optimization
  • Translate regulatory and business requirements into actionable specifications and steps (e.g., “the OMS needs to behave this way to comply with this rule — here’s how we do it”)
  • Participate in UAT and production validation to ensure the system is compliant, stable, and trader friendly
  • Provide insights on how legacy OMS platforms could have been built more efficiently — contribute to “what good looks like” in a future-state OMS

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting sell-side equity OMS platforms in a Canadian capital markets environment, ideally including configuration, support, or customization work
  • Expertise in Canadian equities market structure, market depth tools (e.g., Montage), exchange rules, and IIROC/CSA regulatory requirements
  • Experience working closely with traders, compliance officers, and OMS vendors to solve real-time issues and improve workflows
  • Ability to evaluate trading workflow behavior, interface points, and upstream/downstream integration
  • Passion for product management and interest in transitioning from a technical support background into a more strategic product-facing role
  • Strong communication skills — able to bridge business and technical stakeholders clearly and effectively

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to OMS platforms like WEX, TRAFiX, Tbricks, or BTCS
  • FIX protocol knowledge — especially around routing, drop copy, and compliance reporting
  • Familiarity with OMS/EMS integration and migration planning
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, JIRA, or Confluence
  • No buy-side OMS experience — this role is strictly for candidates with sell-side OMS backgrounds
  • No fixed income OMS experience (e.g., TOMS) — this role is strictly for candidates with equity OMS backgrounds
  • The focus is Canada-only; candidates must have experience with Canadian equity markets and regulations
  • Candidates coming from a technical production support background are highly encouraged to apply if interested in growing into a Product Manager role
