Job summary

Ciena Canada is seeking a seasoned Product Lifecycle Manager to lead profitability and strategy for Broadband FTTx and DCOM products. You will harmonize voice of customers with Sales, Engineering, and Supply Chain to define roadmaps, pricing, and retirements, turning market insight into revenue growth.

In this role you will develop business cases, evaluate opportunities, track performance, and drive alignment across teams, balancing fast-paced execution with long-term strategic thinking.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or business; advanced technical degree is preferred.
• 10+ years in Product Lifecycle Management roles in telecom, datacom, or networking equipment vendors.
• Track record of leading cross-functional initiatives and delivering results through influence across engineering, commercial, operational, and customer-facing organizations.
• Strong business acumen with hands-on experience in pricing, forecasting, portfolio planning, competitive analysis, profitability, and lifecycle decisions.
• Proactive, action-oriented approach to move quickly and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain product business cases that connect pricing strategy, margin, revenue opportunity, cost structure, competitive positioning, investment trade-offs, and profitability objectives.
• Formulate strategies for scaling profitable products and managing graceful retirements; engage with account teams and customers to uncover priorities and position solutions.
• Partner with R&D, design, procurement, QA, and sales/support to synchronize product data and timelines; translate needs into clear requirements and plans.
• Overcome supply chain bottlenecks, technical roadblocks, or market shifts with ECOs and risk mitigation plans.
• Create urgency and alignment across Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, Services, and account teams using data and diligence.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Business Management: Build and maintain product business cases that connect pricing strategy, margin, revenue opportunity, cost structure, competitive positioning, investment trade-offs, and profitability objectives.
• Lifecycle Management: Formulate strategies for scaling profitable products and managing graceful retirements. Engage directly with account teams and customers to uncover network evolution priorities, support architecture discussions, validate roadmap assumptions, and position Ciena solutions around meaningful customer outcomes.
• Cross-Functional Coordination: Partner with R&D, design, procurement, quality assurance, and sales and support teams to keep product data and timelines synchronized. Turn customer needs, market shifts, standards evolution, technology trends, and competitive insight into crisp product requirements, compelling business cases, investment priorities, and lifecycle plans.
• Risk & Change Management: Overcome supply chain bottlenecks, technical roadblocks, or market shifts by implementing engineering change orders (ECOs) and risk mitigation plans.
• Data & Quality Governance: Create urgency and alignment across Engineering, Supply Chain, Marketing, Services, and account teams while making product lifecycle decisions based on data and technical diligence.

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business, or a related field; an advanced technical degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in Product Lifecycle Management roles working for telecom, datacom, or networking equipment vendors.
