Job summary

Neo Financial is seeking a senior product leader to own complex, high-stakes verticals end-to-end—from strategy to platform architecture. You’ll shape vision for a large, technically complex surface area, build and mentor a PM team, and partner with engineering leadership on architectural decisions.

You’ll set the strategy and execution, bridging product, design, operations, legal, and finance, with a focus on building scalable, long-lasting platform infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • Deep technical fluency enabling credible engagement on design, data models, and infra trade-offs.
  • Experience owning complex, regulated, or high-operational products (fintech/payments/infra).
  • Track record of scaling systems and teams through ambiguity from working to reliable to growing.
  • Strong people leadership: built and developed PM teams, not just managed them.
  • Low ego, high standards; willing to do unglamorous work and hold others to the same.

Responsibilities

  • Own a significant product vertical with real business impact (revenue, compliance, platform infra).
  • Scale the product organization by defining hiring standards and mentoring PM talent.
  • Own strategy and execution end-to-end; close the loop yourself.

Job description

Join us to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians

At Neo, we’re on a mission to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians. Life at a rapidly scaling tech startup isn’t for everyone. It’s complex, fast-paced, high-pressure, but also incredibly fulfilling. Since its founding in 2019, Neo has gained incredible traction and is one of the fastest-growing fintech companies in Canada.

  • #1 on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 50 for 2023, 2024, and 2025 — the first company ever to achieve a three-peat at the top!

  • #1 Fastest Growing Company in Canada for 2024 by Globe & Mail

  • Top-ranked mobile apps and credit cards

  • Team of 500+ people

  • 1M+ customers

  • 10K+ retail partners

The Role

We're looking for a senior product leader who can own complex, high-stakes verticals end-to-end — from business strategy down to platform architecture. This isn't a role for someone who hands off the hard parts. You'll be expected to understand the systems deeply, navigate regulatory and operational constraints, and lead both the product and the people building it.

At this level, you're not just managing a roadmap. You're setting the vision for a large, technically complex surface area, building and developing a team of PMs, and partnering directly with engineering leadership to make hard architectural decisions. You think 1 to N: you've scaled systems and teams before, and you know how to structure work that survives growth.

What you'll own
  • A significant product vertical with real business impact — revenue, compliance, platform infrastructure, or new lines of business.

  • Scale the product org by defining hiring standards and mentoring future PM talent.

  • The strategy and the execution, you close the loop yourself.

  • Cross-functional alignment across engineering, design, operations, legal, and finance.

  • Platform decisions that compound: you're not optimizing features, you're building the substrate.

What we’re looking for
  • Deep technical fluency : you've worked closely enough with engineers and architects that you can engage credibly on system design, data models, and infrastructure trade-offs without needing translation.

  • Experience owning complex, regulated, or operationally intensive products (fintech, payments, lending, infra platforms, or similar).

  • A track record of scaling systems and teams through ambiguity, you've taken things from working to reliable to growing.

  • Strong people leadership: you've built and developed PM teams, not just managed them

  • Low ego, high standards: you do the unglamorous work and hold others to the same.

How we hire for this role

We're looking for a rare combination and we won't compromise on fit to move fast. Applying here puts your profile in front of our team and keeps you in consideration as our product organization grows. It doesn't guarantee an immediate interview, and it won't lock you to a single role if your background matches a current or emerging opportunity, we'll reach out directly.

We aim to respond to every application, but given the selective nature of this search, timelines may vary.

We trust, respect, and support each other. This means honest conversations, constructive input, and empowering each other to move fast and think big. You’ll be surrounded by people who push you to be your best. We primarily collaborate in person across our Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto offices, where ideas move quickly and teams build momentum together. As we continue to scale and evolve, we’re looking for builders, innovators, and problem solvers who thrive on challenge–people who would rather blaze a trail through uncertainty than follow a well-paved path.

At Neo, ownership is part of how we think and operate.

For select roles, equity participation reinforces that mindset by giving employees a direct stake in the company’s long-term success. Regardless of role, every team member is expected to think like an owner and make decisions that move the business forward.

Working at Neo:

The people who thrive at Neo are resourceful, growth-oriented, and driven to win. We hold ourselves to high standards because we’re on a mission that matters: to build a more rewarding financial future for all Canadians. As individuals and as a team, we constantly challenge ourselves and each other to raise the bar and deliver exceptional experiences for our customers. Our commitment to customer success drives everything we do, from building world-class products to providing exceptional support at every step of their journey. If this resonates with you, keep reading.

We believe in equal opportunity and are committed to creating an inclusive climate where everyone can thrive. Customers trust us with their finances, so successful candidates for this position will be required to undergo a security screening, including a criminal records check and a credit check.

By continuing with your application, you agree to the Candidate Privacy Notice, which guides how we process your personal information for the purpose of your application.

Neo Financial leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to reinforce our candidate evaluation process, including the initial assessment of applications and screening of candidates. These tools support our recruitment team; however, all final hiring decisions are made by humans and are not based exclusively on automated processing.
