We work with our people to create a diverse workplace where everyone belongs and has the opportunity to succeed. We welcome all applicants to join our diverse team. Tell us what you need during the hiring process, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.

The Role

As a Product Information Specialist, you own the process of getting new gear online and customer-ready on mec.ca. Balancing speed with attention to detail, you enrich product information and publish products quickly so we don’t miss peak selling seasons- all while bringing MEC’s trusted expertise to the online experience.

By ensuring every Product Detail Page (PDP) is accurate, curated, and complete, you provide what members need to choose the right gear. Your work removes buying hesitation, ensures reliable product information, and helps customers shop with confidence.

The Product Information Management (PIM) system is the primary tool you’ll use to enrich and manage product information. We're looking for someone who enjoys finding better ways of working and can help improve our processes and use of the PIM over time.

Location:This role can be performed in a hybrid capacity from MEC's Head Office in Vancouver, BC, or remotely from anywhere within Canada.

As the Product Information Specialist you'll:
  • Enrich product content to MEC’s digital standards including: product descriptions, technical specifications, size guides, image gallery captions and product videos
  • Proactively source and compile product data ahead of seasonal launch dates
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the PIM by maintaining reusable product information structures and workflows that streamline product enrichment
  • Resolve product information issues flagged by customers and internal teams
  • Conduct quality assurance reviews to ensure product content meets MEC standards
  • Troubleshoot product data issues, investigate syncing problems and coordinate fixes with internal teams
  • Backfill missing product attributes when new customer-facing content requirements are introduced
  • Support in defining and evolving product content standards as our digital experience grows
What you'll bring:
  • Strong preference for experience enriching large product catalogues in an ecommerce environment
  • Strong preference for experience working within retail systems such as PIMs (preferably Akeneo), CMS, ERP or dropship platforms
  • A skill for writing – from a personal blog to a school paper, with product copywriting experience as an asset, whether with an internal marketing team, or an agency.
  • A love for gear: you’re the person friends ask for product advice, you research your purchases, and stay on top of evolving technology and trends.
  • A deep understanding of our customers and what information is required to move them from browsing to buying.
  • Initiative to identify process improvements
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot data issues
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
  • Comfortable learning new technology and experimenting with AI tools to improve efficiency
  • Excellent organization skill and ability to manage priorities and deadlines
  • The ability to maintain professional relationships with internal stakeholders, brand partners, and vendors
  • A desire for learning opportunities to improve area-specific knowledge
  • The ability to work on your own for long periods of time, without losing focus on other priorities
