Job description

Title: Product – EIT (Engineer-In-Training)

Department: R&D

Employment Type: Full-Time/Permanent

Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba

What Would You Do?

Reporting to the Product Development Operations Manager, the Product Engineer-In-Training (EIT) is responsible for creating, analyzing, and maintaining Palliser’s Bill of Materials, Labor Routings, and Specifications using Palliser’s ERP system.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position would include:

BOM and Specification Management

  • Creation and maintenance of bills of materials and specifications for new and existing product lines.
  • Querying Palliser’s ERP system to extract and manipulate data in order to facilitate BOM updates.
  • Using offline load and mass maintenance tools to perform BOM updates.

Labor Routing Management

  • Creation and Maintenance of labour routing for new and existing product lines using.

Product Dimensions

  • Physical measurement of new products according to established standards and processes.
  • Input of product dimensions into ERP system.
  • Maintenance, analysis and troubleshooting dimensional information.

Investigation and Issue Resolution

  • Working with internal business partners to investigate BOM and routing concerns, determine root cause in order to propose and implement solutions.
  • Tracking of investigated and resolved issues, and their root causes.
  • Product Costing; perform new product costing, or analysis as requested.

Audits and Analysis

  • Performing BOM, routings and cost audits for newly introduced and existing product.
  • Tracking, Reporting and communication of audit results.
  • Lead or participate in projects intended to reduce cost, improve BOM structure, improve BOM accuracy.

Continuous Improvement Projects

  • Lead or participate projects intended to reduce cost, improve BOM structure, and improve BOM accuracy

What Do You Bring?

  • Degree or diploma in Engineering or Engineering Technologist – preferably mechanical engineering.
  • 2 – 4 years of relatable experience, specifically, project management experience with emphasis on meeting deadlines and using technical software.
  • Experience working in a multi-level ERP system.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team-work skills.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, processes and standards used in the manufacturing process.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to perform ODBC queries in access or as400 is an asset.
  • Advanced excel skills including Vlookup and offline load.
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills.
