Overview
Ratehub is a Canadian fintech offering a one-stop platform for saving, spending, borrowing, investing, and protecting. We deliver mortgage experiences, personalized credit card and loan options, and auto/home insurance policies through our digital application technology, brokerages, and content. We are remote-first with headquarters in downtown Toronto and welcome remote candidates.
Your Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end design process, from research and ideation to prototyping, validation, and delivering high-impact product experiences that help users make smart financial decisions.
- Act as the voice of the customer using research, usability testing, A/B testing, and analytics to understand and validate problems and solutions, ensuring decisions deliver measurable value.
- Partner with product, engineering, data, marketing, and content teams to translate ideas into meaningful, user-centered experiences.
- Design responsive and consistent experiences across mobile and desktop.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure design feasibility, high-fidelity implementation, and visual/functional accuracy in the final product.
- Contribute to product roadmaps and sprint planning alongside product and engineering teams.
- Build and maintain design backlogs and help shape design strategy for the next 6–24 months.
- Support additional design needs from content and marketing initiatives across Ratehub and MoneySense.
Collaboration and Communication
- Facilitate workshops with stakeholders to align on goals, gather requirements, and co-create solutions.
- Communicate design concepts and rationale clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
Design Systems and Standards
- Build and maintain scalable design systems and style guides to ensure consistency across products.
- Ensure all designs meet accessibility standards (WCAG) and deliver inclusive user experiences.
- Stay current with industry trends, tools, and best practices to improve design processes and methodologies.
Your Qualifications
- 3+ years of product design experience with a strong portfolio showing responsive designs for web and mobile.
- Proven ability to own the end-to-end design process: user research, ideation, prototyping, UX/UI design, and usability testing.
- Strong UX and UI design skills with excellent attention to detail and ability to craft intuitive experiences.
- High proficiency with Figma.
- Experience leveraging quantitative and qualitative data to validate design decisions, with usability testing tools and analytics tools.
- Organized and capable of managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Ability to break down complex problems into simple, intuitive solutions and iterate based on feedback.
- Experience building and maintaining scalable, component-based design systems.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to present design rationale to stakeholders.
- Bias toward action, balancing quality and speed, and comfort with ambiguity to design 0→1 features.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- Post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in UX Design or related field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Storybook or WordPress.
- Basic understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
- Experience designing for customer-facing financial services products.
