Description:
The Global Interior Lighting Product Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and release of all Interior lighting components such as smart ambient lighting, surface back lighting, dynamic lighting, overhead lighting systems, Battery charge Indicator lighting, UVC lighting, courtesy, and task lighting.
Responsibilities will include but not limited to:
- Developing standardization plans and interfacing with the product design office, vehicle development, other Interior, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Teams, and suppliers to design, develop, and release Interior Lighting components.
- Acting as the interface between Design Studio and suppliers in creating functional lighting solutions that meet design requirements.
- Maintaining core lighting design practices, lessons learned, implementing innovation roadmaps, utilizing SPEOS lighting simulation, coordinating and developing new technologies and procedures to enhance program timing, and managing documentation such as source packages, specifications, requirements, and change notices.
- Defining Interior, Electrical, Customer interface requirements, conducting virtual and physical validations (DFMEA / DVP&R), vehicle lighting harmonization, quality improvement activities, cost analysis, and managing supplier development and selection to meet program timelines and deliverables.
- Tracking and root causing build issues during pre-production and vehicle development.
- Resolving issues prior to program launch and conducting warranty analysis post-launch.
Requirements:
This position requires presence in the Windsor area for occasional meetings at CTC and training. Candidates should specify their location on their resume.
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- At least 2 years of experience in Product Design and Release within Automotive systems and components.
- Minimum of 2 years in Electrical Module Hardware development.
- Experience with tooling feasibility in injection-molded plastics/decorative components.
- Experience in interior lighting and lighting simulation.
- Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA, DVP&R, CAE, GD&T, and i-Speed.
- Design and development experience with Team Center and NX.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Result-oriented, energetic self-starter capable of leading cross-functional teams.
Additional Information / Must Have's:
- Excellent communication skills, both in person and virtually.
- Problem-solving experience; Reactive Green Belt certification preferred.
- Assembly/Production plant experience.
- Preferred experience of 5-7 years.
Work is onsite/remote hybrid with on-site presence as needed, with travel estimated at 20%. The position involves driving a company vehicle as required.
