Qualifications

About the Job

The Role:

The position of Product Coordinator at Leadbetter Foods & Beechgrove is ideal for individuals who thrive on the excitement of developing and implementing innovative and enhanced products. This role will primarily be based out of Leadbetter’s, Orillia . The successful candidate will be self-driven, collaborative, accountable, and focused on delivering results. They should enjoy a dynamic environment, remain dedicated to their objectives, and possess the ability to apply creative solutions to a variety of challenges. A hands-on approach is essential, as the role includes activities in the lab, bench-top settings, and manufacturing sites. A strong passion for food science and technology, coupled with the ability to convert theoretical concepts into practical applications, is crucial.

A Glimpse into a Day-in-the-Life

Product Development Support

  • Assist in launching new products from ideation to commercialization
  • Help manage product formulation changes and support sample production runs.
  • Maintain the project management platform and communicate project timelines and track completion of each tasks.

Communication & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between departments R&D, QA, production, and sales for product-related updates.
  • Facilitate communication on changes to formulations, packaging, or labeling.

Customer and Sales Support

  • Provide product-related information to customer service or sales teams.
  • Help respond to customer inquiries regarding ingredients, shelf life, certifications, etc.

Regulatory Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of product specifications, labels, ingredients, and allergens.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
  • Prepare documentation for audits, certifications, and inspections.

Production Coordination

  • Coordinate with production planners and procurement teams to ensure raw materials and packaging are available.
  • Monitor production schedules and track any changes or delays in product lines within the scope of new projects.

Inventory and Supply Chain Tracking

  • Track inventory levels of finished goods and raw materials to prevent shortages or overstock.
  • Support forecasting and product lifecycle planning (launch, phase-out).

What You’ll Bring:

Diploma or Bachelor degree in one of the following (or related) fields:

  • Food Science, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering
  • A certificate in HACCP, BRCGS, or Food Safety is often a plus.

Experience

  • 2 -3 years of experience in a food manufacturing or production environment.
  • Experience in:
  • Product lifecycle coordination
  • Working with cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, QA, production)
  • Regulatory documentation and compliance (CFIA, FDA, etc.)
  • Experience with labeling, packaging, or product specifications is advantageous
