Summary

BNN Bloomberg is looking for an experienced, dynamic Business News Producer to join our leadership team. The successful candidate will produce shows on Canada’s #1 destination for business news - BNN Bloomberg, identifying the top Canadian business stories, lining up, producing and executing live television coverage.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, build, element & execute the LIVE on-air output of BNN Bloomberg during specified periods of the broadcast day
• Generate original story ideas for execution
• Determine the daily editorial direction and execution of coverage
• Collaborate with & assign chase producers to define & execute content & coverage
• Ensure BNN Bloomberg is delivering the latest developments in major business news stories with a Canadian perspective quickly & accurately
• Vet scripts, video, audio, & banners
• Ensure accuracy, consistency & adherence to CTV News standards of all material
• Responsible for taking LIVE events to air & participate in future planning for major events
• Monitor wires, the Bloomberg terminal, social media, & all other outlets for news updates or story ideas
• Participate in news editorial meetings
• Other duties as assigned

Critical Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of business, finance, and economics
• 5+ years of business journalism experience
• Comfortable working in a high-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Extensive experience producing live news from both an editorial and production perspective
• Experience building line-ups, and working in a live control room
• Ability to provide context and a Canadian perspective to business stories
• A team player who gives and receives feedback well
• A journalist who is committed to the highest industry and ethical standards
• A journalism and/or business degree will be considered an asset
• Experience with Bloomberg Terminal
