Reporting to the Manager, Eastlink Community TV, the Producer will have a strong communication, technical and editorial background coupled with a passion for technology. As a representative of Eastlink Community TV, the producer will be an active community member ensuring programs produced are relevant to the local audience. Thorough, organized and driven to take ownership and accountability for their work, the successful candidate will have the skills to work effectively in a fast paced and dynamic work environment. Eastlink maintains a safe and healthy workplace, observing directives of Health NS under the guidance of Occupational Health and Safety.

Responsibilities:

1. On-Air responsibilities as required, including but not limited to sports broadcasts and series hosting. Requires extensive knowledge of the applicable sport.
2. Produce, direct, edit productions and ensure consistent compliance with company policies, procedures and standards.
3. Co-ordinate and develop efficiencies that will allow maximum output.
4. Conduct pre-production and post-production meetings and program critiques.
5. Produce and promote programs that are relevant to the community.
6. Foster positive working relationships within the programming department as well as with volunteers, other company departments, media partners, community leaders, local organizations, and elected officials.
7. Seek out relevant community organizations and individuals to develop effective local programming.
8. Comply with CRTC regulations and guidelines.

Qualifications:

1. Television production experience is an asset.
2. Degree in Television Production or post-secondary education in Television Production or Broadcasting is an asset.
3. Experience in studio production, ENG/EFP, and multi-camera mobile production.
4. Experience with non-linear Avid editors.
5. Experience with storytelling and script writing.
6. Experience with contract and partnership management.
7. Knowledge of production equipment, edit suites, studio production and computer graphics.
8. A valid Nova Scotia driver’s license with a good driving record, and reliable transportation.
9. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
10. Strong attention to detail is an asset.
11. Frequently required to lift heavy objects (e.g., 20 kilos).
12. Frequently required to work outside year-round.
13. Reside within the local cable system network.
