Job summary

Cronos Group, Stayner, Ontario, is hiring a Procurement Specialist to convert PRs into POs and manage the end-to-end PO process. You will train requisitioners, validate PR accuracy, issue POs per DOA, track deliveries, and support accounts payable for a 3-way match.

You will manage tiered vendor lists and drive cost savings with cross-functional partners. Based in Stayner, ON, you will collaborate with supply chain, operations, and sales to ensure timely availability of supply and maintain

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain.
  • College degree in SCM or related field; CPP/CPSM a plus.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced multi-workstream environment.
  • Strong business acumen and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in SAP purchasing and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Develop SAP documentation and lead SAP training for stakeholders.
  • Provide backup for other Procurement Specialists to meet KPIs.

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for converting purchase requisitions (PR) into purchase orders (PO) and managing all purchase orders to closure. This role manages the purchase order process which includes; training requisitioners on how to properly submit PR’s, validating PR accuracy, creating PO’s, issuing PO’s per the DOA policy, updating PO’s (as needed), tracking PO’s to delivery, assisting accounts payable team to ensure a 3-way match, and closing out matched PO’s. This role will be responsible for managing tiered price lists with strategic vendors and for managing the accuracy in $100M in annual purchases. To be successful in this role, the Procurement Specialist will need to work closely with the supply and demand planning teams located in Stayner, Ontario to ensure PO’s are issued accurately, timely, expedited when needed, and supply is available to meet the business demands. This role leads supply assurance efforts and delivers financial value to the business through the execution of cost savings and value optimization projects. Cronos is a fast-paced company in a growing industry so this role must be flexible and ready to support the rapid launch of new products.

This position will report to the Director of Procurement and will be based in Stayner, ON.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the PR to PO creation process includes training requestors, validating PR’s, creating PO’s, issuing PO’s via the appropriate approval chain (DOA), updating the PO as needed, tracking the PO to delivery, and assisting the business and accounts payable to ensure a 3-way match, and PO closure (Indirect PO’s).
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders in Supply Chain, Operations, and Sales to ensure the appropriate supply is available to meet all business demands.
  • Lead the due diligence, qualification, and on-boarding of all new suppliers.
  • Deliver financial value through cost savings and value optimization projects.
  • Build in-depth knowledge on SAP and become the SAP purchasing subject matter expert, updating “how to” documentation, and leading SAP training sessions with key stakeholders.
  • Backup other Procurement Specialists, creating redundancy, and ensuring the procurement KPI’s are met by delivering timely and accurate PO’s

You’ll need to have:

  • 1-3 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain.
  • College degree required, ideally focus on Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or other related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CPP, CPSM) are a plus.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple workstreams.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail is required.
  • Demonstrated abilities as a procurement specialist/buyer with experience in SAP purchasing system.
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills with ability to present complex information to varied audiences.
  • Knowledge of sourcing fundamentals and ability to lead RFP’s with tight deadlines
  • High level of proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000 (Stayner, Ontario*) per year

The actual compensation offered will be based on factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, applicable market data, internal equity, and business needs, and may vary within the stated range. This role may be eligible for bonus, incentive compensation, or other variable pay in accordance with applicable company plans.
