Major contractor seeking an experienced Procurement Manager with 5+ years of relevant purchasing experience, ideally in the construction phase of large infrastructure projects. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role. Salary: $130,000+.
The Procurement Manager will be responsible for creating procurement schedules, developing and purchasing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment in a timely and cost-effective manner while maintaining quality standards and specifications. The role involves planning and coordinating the procurement of materials, products, and services to meet project schedules and compliance standards.
Responsibilities of Procurement Manager
- Coordinate with the Commercial team and Scheduler to forecast and develop procurement schedules.
- Utilize ERP software for procurement planning and control.
- Maintain procurement files.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods/services with clients and vendors to determine causes and corrective actions.
- Help lower costs and secure agreements.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Secure equipment and materials during procurement cycles.
- Handle equipment data sheets, drawings, and specifications as required.
- Prepare purchase requisitions, review quotes, obtain approvals, and issue purchase orders.
- Review quotations and order materials/services per negotiated terms; follow-up on delivery.
- Track purchasing activities against project schedules.
- Ensure LEED and civil works sustainability compliance.
- Ensure equipment and materials meet CSA standards and other relevant standards.
- Ensure supplier compliance with site and company quality, health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Liaise with the Commercial Department for invoice payments.
- Provide equipment and material release information to site and scheduler.
- Supply data sheets, drawings, and specifications to support installation.
- Issue equipment to installers with supporting documentation.
- Record and confirm receipt of equipment and materials.
- Build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and subcontractors.
Essential Functions

- Deep knowledge of construction purchasing requirements.
- Experience with ERP procurement modules.
- Understanding of purchasing standards and policies in construction.
- Supply chain management skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and Word.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Experience/Qualifications
- 3-6 years’ experience in purchasing within construction, distribution, or manufacturing environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience with Aconex preferred.
