Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Procurement Lead is responsible for the procurement of goods and services for various projects and business units. They are responsible for leading or supervising a team of Buyers and Order Administrators in day to day procurement activities.

Your role within the team:

  • Lead Procurement Activities for a Project.
  • Review purchasing documents.
  • Supervise and Mentor Buyers/Order Administrators.
  • Interface with Project Management.
  • Lead Supplier negotiations and Kick-off Meetings for procurement.
  • Create and Issue Procurement packages.
  • Interface with the Client for Review and Approval of Procurement packages.
  • Ensure procurement data integrity and project status updates at all times.
  • Oversee completion of non-conformances.
  • Required to visit suppliers/ shop oversight.
  • Resolve supply chain issues as they arise.

  • Post-Secondary Education preferred.
  • SCMP certification or enrolment in SCMP programs is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Contract Law and competitive bidding best practices.
  • Knowledge in Manufacturing, experience at supplier facilities.
  • Knowledge of contract terms and conditions.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Buying/Expediting complex Procurement Engineering packages or equivalent.
  • Experience in supplier negotiations.
  • Experience in Quality program standards and processes related to supply chain (All levels).
  • Understanding of the financial system, invoicing/milestone payments, Levels of Authority, Ethics/Compliance/Integrity Controls, HSE.
  • Requirements/ Complex Service contracts including Construction contracts and union trades.
  • Knowledge of Export permit controls.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities (If applicable):
    • Required to Mentor Junior Buyers.
    • Lead and supervise Procurement activities for Projects and Business Units.
  • Other Aspects(If applicable):
    • Will be required to travel or work at Project sites including Pickering.
