OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Director, Procurement, the Procurement Governance and Technology Specialist is responsible for ensuring the effective governance and compliance of procurement processes while leveraging technology to optimize efficiency and support organizational goals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of procurement best practices, regulatory compliance, and procurement technology solutions, driving continuous improvement within the procurement function.

In this flexible workstyle, you will have the ability to work from home but may be required to travel to our corporate offices in Edmonton and/or Calgary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Governance & Policy Development
    • Develop, implement, and maintain procurement governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
    • Ensure alignment with organizational objectives and applicable regulatory requirements.
    • Provide guidance and training to stakeholders on procurement governance processes.

  • Compliance Management
    • Monitor procurement activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and other requirements.
    • Conduct reviews to identify potential risks or areas of non-compliance.
    • Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate risk.

  • Technology Enablement
    • Evaluate, implement, and manage procurement technology platforms to enhance process efficiency and transparency.
    • Maintain and improve e-procurement, contract management, and supplier management systems.
    • Collaborate with IT teams to address technical issues and ensure system integration.

  • Process Optimization
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements across procurement activities, using data-driven insights and technology.
    • Drive automation and standardization in procurement workflows to reduce inefficiencies.
    • Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure procurement effectiveness.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including legal, finance, IT, and operations, to support procurement objectives.
    • Act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and suppliers to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
    • Foster a culture of compliance and innovation within the procurement team.
WHAT YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement governance, compliance, and technology enablement.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of procurement systems (e.g. Coupa) and tools.
  • In-depth understanding of procurement policies, regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Professional designation such as SCMP is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop innovative solutions to complex challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
