Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Canada is seeking an experienced candidate to lead sourcing activities and support R&D efforts. The ideal applicant should have at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, five years of relevant experience, and excellent program management skills. Responsibilities include managing sourcing strategies and providing technical support during product development. Strong knowledge in both mechanical and electrical engineering manufacturing is essential. This position offers opportunities for senior roles for highly experienced candidates.

Overview

Lead and drive sourcing activities to achieve best-in-class sourcing, cost targets and supply risk mitigation for NPIs and Sustaining programs. Support new projects/transfer programs by acting as the contact window to coordinate procurement activities until the first production run. Provide technical sourcing support to R&D to meet CoGS targets and/or new suppliers/materials for development. Drive the release of materials in a timely manner with project core team/R&D to meet production build dates. Advocate the category strategies during the product development phase. Support R&D sourcing efforts by identifying and purchasing components during prototype builds. Management of SAP data integrity. Support the procurement team on urgent ad-hoc duties as assigned by the reporting manager.

Role Requirements
  • At least a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering / any related fields of study.
  • Minimum with 5 years of relevant working experience within R&D / Manufacturing industry.
  • Strong Program Management experience is required.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents (i.e. Schematic/drawings/BOM/specifications) to have a good eye/understanding in sourcing of suitable OEM parts (Mechanical & electrical).
  • Solid & broad knowledge in Mechanical (Plastic / Sheet Metal) and EE (Electrical Engineering) / EM (Electronics Manufacturing) Manufacturing including SMT, Cable Assembly.
  • Experience in SAP or similar ERP/MRP is an added advantage.
  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel Functions.
  • A team player with interpersonal skills, proactive mindset.
  • Candidates with possess wealth of relevance experience in similar industry will be considered for Senior positions.
