Qualifications

Position Overview

As an integral part of the Mental Health & Addictions Program, the Mental Health Proctor 3 provides services and supports to individuals, as well as groups of individuals experiencing multiple needs due to severe mental illness, and who require intensive input in order to maintain themselves in the community. The client and the Community Mental Health Worker identify specific goals and activities for proctor involvement, in keeping with principles of consumer empowerment. The focus of Proctor III services will be on providing rehabilitation and recovery- oriented intervention, within the client’s natural and chosen environment.

The incumbent exercises the appropriate level of initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, work methods to be employed and action to be taken on unusual matters. The position functions in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values; and the policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.

Experience
  • Two years volunteer/work related experience.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Grade 12 or GED equivalent, as well as completion of formal mental health modules. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.

  • Understanding of Consumer Empowerment and Recovery principles.
  • Given the cultural diversity of our region, the ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population is required.
  • Proficiency of both official languages is essential for target and designated bilingual positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums.
  • Good work and attendance record.
  • Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.

  • May work occasionally evenings and weekends as necessary.
