Duties and Responsibilities :
- Adhere to all policies and procedures in the Examination Centre Proctor Guide
- Ensure all necessary equipment and materials are available before exams begin
- Arrange exam room according to the Seating Plan
- Set up and test laptops and internet connections, resolving any technical issues
- Verify candidate identity using government-issued photo IDs
- Address candidate issues or concerns
- Read aloud the Head Proctor Script verbatim
- Supervise exam candidates and monitor for rule violations
- Work with other proctors to maintain a professional exam environment
- Uphold Insurance Institute regulations and report any breaches
- Ensure candidates stop typing when time expires
- Submit an Examination Sitting Report after each session
- Secure laptops and equipment after exams
Requirements and Qualifications :
- Retiree, active professional, or university / college graduate
- Industry experience preferred but not necessary
- Previous proctor or customer service experience
- At least 18 years old
- Proficiency in basic computer functions and troubleshooting
- Physical ability to carry and set up heavy equipment (up to 10 kg)
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and / or French
- Ability to work 8-hour shifts
- Availability for multiple exam dates preferred
- Adherence to a business casual dress code
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to project authority and enforce rules
- Punctuality and deadline adherence
- Comfort with standing or walking for extended periods
- Problem-solving skills and professionalism
- High reliability and accountability
- Team-oriented mindset
- No criminal record
- Not currently enrolled in CIP or GIE courses
- Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada
