Job description

Summary

The Process Technician is responsible for setting up and operating injection molding machines to produce high-quality plastic parts. Reporting to the Process Manager and indirectly to the Production Supervisor, this role supports manufacturing activities and ensures compliance with standards to meet customer expectations.

All employees must prioritize safety and environmental consciousness, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment. Active participation in safety practices is expected from all staff members.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Set up and troubleshoot injection molding machines, including startup/shutdown and mold setting.
  2. Diagnose and resolve machinery issues to ensure quality standards are met.
  3. Maintain processes to meet or exceed efficiency and utilization benchmarks.
  4. Validate process parameters and adjust to optimize cycle times.
  5. Monitor process and workstation data per mold setup sheets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  6. Address and resolve scrap issues promptly.
  7. Collaborate with Quality Department to improve process control.
  8. Follow all company processes and procedures to ensure safety and productivity.
  9. Promote an environment of personal and professional growth and excellence.
  10. Ensure compliance with all applicable workplace safety laws.

Qualifications

Candidates should meet the following criteria:

Education and Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience as a process technician in plastic injection molding.
  • Experience with hot runners and insulated runner systems preferred.
  • Ability to understand process setup instructions and company policies.
  • Scientific molding experience and certification from an injection molding program are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with computerized inventory systems (IQMS experience is a plus).
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and mechanical skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently or in teams with minimal supervision.
