Job description
Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Process Mechanical Engineer with a strong track record in manufacturing environments. This role is tailored for professionals who excel in both the technical and practical aspects of engineering—those who can confidently lead production teams and deliver innovative, design-focused solutions. If you have deep expertise in reviewing complex 3D models and stamping P&IDs in systems such as Amine, Refrigeration, Dehydration, Fractionation, Stabilizer, and Mole Sieves, and producing manufacturing-oriented documentation, you’re encouraged to apply.

With a foundation of integrity, the successful candidate would use commitment and creativity to propel our organization forward. This position is based at our 4700 47 Street SE, Calgary, AB location.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Production Experience: Leverage your hands-on background in shop and production environments to proactively address daily challenges and optimize team performance on the shop floor.
  2. Technical Review & Design: Evaluate general arrangements and 3D models with an emphasis on constructability, identifying and mitigating potential issues across various package systems.
  3. Instrumentation & Documentation:
    1. Accurately specify instrumentation—including down to part numbers—with minimal oversight.
    2. Develop comprehensive P&IDs and line lists, demonstrating advanced technical proficiency by applying your professional stamp on these documents.
  4. Engineering Calculations & Layouts:
    1. Size pressure relief, control valves, and layout vessels based on process conditions.
    2. Generate detailed P&ID BOMs and conduct NPSH assessments when specifying and sizing pumps.
  5. Team Collaboration & Quality Assurance: Contribute effectively within engineering teams—drawing on experience in activities such as HAZOPS—and ensure quality control through detailed technical reviews, including instructions on equipment maintenance and serviceability (e.g., for Frick and MyCom screw compressors).

Candidate Profile

  1. Proven Expertise: Candidates must demonstrate a solid history of successfully executing advanced projects in a manufacturing setting, as evidenced by industry-standard documentation and innovative design solutions.
  2. Work Sample Requirement: Applicants will be required to provide an example of a P.Eng stamped P&ID used in a manufacturing environment. This sample should illustrate your technical prowess and the ability to produce work that meets rigorous industry standards.
  3. Independent & Detail-Oriented: A self-starter with a strong ability to manage tasks independently—such as detailed instrumentation specifications and control signal requirements—with a commitment to precision and quality.
  4. Industry-Ready: You should have direct experience in creating, reviewing, and applying technical documents and design packages in dynamic production environments.
