Purpose:

We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Process Engineer to be based in our Vancouver office for our Mineral Processing projects.

Reporting to a Lead Process Engineer, you will be part of a team working on a wide range of projects from brownfield improvements to greenfield developments. The position involves close interaction with other members of the Process & Technology North America team as well as other disciplines.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete conceptual and/or detailed process engineering designs of new or revamp/additions to existing facilities.
  • Develop design basis documents and reports.
  • Develop process simulation models.
  • Carry out calculations, design development, and process simulations, including providing process specifications for equipment and instrumentation.
  • Create, review, and revise process deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, mass, energy & water balances, and supporting equipment specifications and layouts.
  • Review and apply relevant standards, regulations, codes, and guidelines applicable for the task, identifying deviations or concerns.
  • Work within and follow company work procedures, process technical guidelines, quality assurance plans, safety regulations, and specific customer/project procedures.
  • Coordinate and interface between other discipline engineers and project management staff.
  • Authenticate process deliverables per customer requirements.

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Familiarity with mineral processing and hydrometallurgical processes focusing on base and precious metals extraction.

Process Deliverable Production:

  • Design Basis Development.
  • PDC, PFD, P&IDs, and plot layouts.
  • Mass, Energy, and Water balances.
  • Selection and sizing of process equipment.
  • Specify process equipment, including benefits/shortfalls for specific applications.
  • Instrumentation and controls process design.
  • Understanding potential process hazards and experience in Risk Assessments.

Software Skills:

  • Process Modeling Software (SysCAD, MetSim, HSC, JK SimMet)
  • Standard programs (Excel, Visio, CAD)

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy.
  • Experience in applying chemical or metallurgical engineering principles in mineral processing or hydrometallurgical environments.
  • Operation/plant experience is an asset.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada or eligibility.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Commitment to quality and continuous learning.
  • Proficiency in MS Office software.
  • Experience in extractive metallurgy.
  • Additional language skills such as French or Spanish are assets.

Salary range for applicants in British Columbia: $71,679 to $103,691.
