What We Offer

This position supports the analysis, design, and optimization of process safety, and performs emergency relief system assessment, design, and revalidation. Represents the company in industrial and trade communities such as AIChE (DIERS), ASME, and API.

Major Responsibilities

  1. Designs and evaluates emergency relief systems such as pressure safety valves, rupture disks, and venting systems for new and existing plans in the NAFTA region.

  2. Supports documentation of site and regional pressure safety policies, standards, procedures, training, and execution.

  3. Participates in Management of Change (MOC) and proactively delivers solutions to pressure safety-related concerns and problems as discovered through frequent process unit interactions.

  4. Supports day-to-day Business Unit (BU) operations impacted by their emergency relief systems.

  5. Assists in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Turnaround (TAR) activities.

  6. Proposes innovative improvements in the efficiency of Pressure Safety work processes.

  7. Participates in Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) initiatives and positively represents the HSE organization within the site.

  8. Actively involved in industrial organizations such as AIChE (DIERS), ASME, API, or others.

What You Offer

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or similar engineering with at least 4 years of experience OR

  • Master's degree in chemical or similar engineering with at least 2 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Plant experience and a minimum of 2 years of Emergency Relief System Design experience

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of chemical engineering fundamentals (reaction, unit operations, fluid flow, process control)

  • Ability to analyze and interpret process documentation (PFD, P&ID)

  • Proficiency in fluid flow calculations, including two-phase flow.

  • Knowledge of PHA/HAZOP methodology for overpressure scenario identification.

  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards including ASME, API, ASHRAE-15, IIAR, NFPA, OSHA regulations.

  • Experience with pressure safety calculation tools such as Superchems or similar software.

  • Demonstrated leadership and collaboration skills working within cross-functional teams. Ability to facilitate pressure safety topics and guide teams to effective solutions.

  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) at all organizational levels.

  • Ability to work independently, develop, and implement solutions into production workflows.

  • Willingness to travel up to 20%.
