Your Opportunity

In your role as a Process Engineer In Training, you will support our fast-growing process and treatment team that provides water supply and treatment design services for our clients in both the municipal and industrial realms, including industrial practices such as Mining, Pulp & Paper, Food & Beverage, Power, Oil & Gas, and Manufacturing.

You will be located in our Dartmouth office, where we already have a solid core of process/treatment practitioners, and work with brilliant specialists from across our North American operations.

Our ideal candidate will have experience as a consulting engineer designing and/or managing water treatment projects for industrial clients. This role will require a balance of technical leadership, engineering, and design management. The eligible candidate will also have an opportunity to participate in business development and proposal preparation.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Consistently demonstrate a commitment to the Health and Safety culture within Stantec
  • Contribute to conceptual design basis reports, engineering assessments, data analysis and design calculations
  • Contribute to the preparation of PFDs, P&IDs, and provide coordination of multidiscipline drawing sets as required for Industrial Water projects
  • Contribute to the preparation of construction specifications, tender documents, and applications for approvals to regulators on behalf of clients
  • Provide independent and quality reviews for peers on other projects within your technical subject matter knowledge
  • Maintain positive relationships with clients, vendors, consultants, and regulators as needed always using a professional communications approach
  • Conduct occasional site visits to support proposals, project development, or business development

Your Capabilities And Credentials

  • Understanding of water/wastewater treatment engineering design technologies and water/wastewater characterization (industrial)
  • Understanding of typical industrial water needs and wastewater sources, including internal service water, boilers, and cooling water.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet multiple deadlines
  • Works in a team environment without direct supervision
  • Proficient writer and communicator
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite and Adobe
  • Completion of a Master’s degree in Water/Wastewater Treatment is considered an asset
  • Experience with process simulation modelling is considered an asset (hydraulic modelling, BioWin, HYSYS etc.)
  • Holds a valid drivers’ license

Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Process, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Engineer
  • 0-5 years of engineering experience

Typical office environment working with computers and sitting at a desk. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
