Job summary

State in Vaughan, Ontario is seeking a Process Engineer to lead production projects from start to finish in our on-site manufacturing plant. Reports to the Continuous Improvement Manager and collaborates with Engineering, Production and Quality on project tasks.

You will drive continuous improvements, optimize equipment utilization, and support new product launches with R&D while maintaining SQDCI standards and KPI tracking.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Technology, Industrial or equivalent is preferred.
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as Process Engineer or equivalent manufacturing/product development work experience.
  • On-site manufacturing environment with PPE; flexibility for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and maintain layout of equipment, materials and storage.
  • Improve process flow, automation, assembly and production efficiency.
  • Determine cycle times and maintain throughput calculations.
  • Lead continuous improvements and monitor cost savings.
  • Develop equipment specifications and lead selection with Operations.
  • Collaborate with R&D to launch new products.

About The Role

Reports directly to the Continuous Improvement Manager on all matters. The Process Engineer will be responsible for all functions of a production project from start to finish. Working closely with Engineering, Production and Quality on specific project tasks.

Duties are responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and maintain physical layout of equipment, materials and storage;
  • Knowledge of process flow, automation, assembly and production (mid-high volume production operations);
  • Knowledge of customer specific requirements (KATA, SQDCI, PDCA, PFMEA);
  • Maintain accurate throughput calculations for all manufacturing resources;
  • Determine cycle times for manufacturing resources;
  • Identify bottleneck resources and capacity constraint resources;
  • Coordinate throughput improvement efforts;
  • Perform standardize work studies;
  • Implement Continuous Improvements and monitor cost savings;
  • Maintain key performance indicator charts/graphs;
  • Implement error proofing;
  • Coordinate new business related matter, and problem solving efforts;
  • Completion of Job Instructions sheets;
  • Create and maintain SQDCI Boards;
  • Responsible for production process from start to finish, updates, revisions, continuous improvements;
  • Support product on optimizing equipment utilization and efficiency;
  • Develop new equipment specification and lead the equipment selection process with Operations;
  • Work with R&D to launch new products and inform productions;
  • Any other tasks assigned by the Continuous Improvement Manager.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Technology, Industrial or equivalent is preferred.
Years of Experience
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as Process Engineer or equivalent manufacturing/product development work experience.
Work Location
  • On site;
  • Work in manufacturing plant environment;
  • May require heavy lifting, working indoors and standing for long duration of time;
  • Wearing PPE is mandatory in the Plant; and
  • Flexible to work approved overtime as required.
