Position: Process Engineer
Location: Toronto, Canada
Responsibilities:
- Manage technical and process control aspects, develop plans, coordinate, track, qualify, and implement assembly processes from conceptual design to functional assemblies, meeting cost, delivery, capacity, and customer requirements.
- Develop automated processes and monitor continuous improvements in quality, safety, cost, and efficiency using tools like SMED and TPM.
- Assist with costing, capital, and capacity projections for new products and product changes.
- Complete process development deliverables including PFMEA, Process Qualification Plan, Control Plans, Workmanship standards, and DOE.
- Develop tooling and fixtures using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or Pro-Engineer).
- Define process equipment, fixtures, and tools for new or improved connector assembly processes.
- Provide cost assessments for new or modified products and justify tooling and equipment investments.
- Write specifications for machinery and tooling to be sourced externally.
- Drive risk reduction efforts through DFM, FMEA, and verification testing.
- Define and execute process qualification plans (FAI, Cmk, Cpk).
- Coordinate prototype fabrication, tooling, and equipment with vendors.
- Analyze risk areas, conduct experiments, design and analyze DOE, and research basic technology.
- Develop and document assembly processes, including process sheets, procedures, spare parts lists, and maintenance plans.
- Provide training and support to production personnel.
- Participate in project meetings and customer interactions.
- Interface with vendors on automation equipment development.
- Work with operations to define capacity, takt time, line layout, work instructions, and quality standards.
- Develop capacity and cost reduction plans for high-volume production.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electro-mechanical, Mechanical, or related field; or 8 years of process engineering experience.
- Ability to interpret technical documents and regulations.
- Strong report writing and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts and technical software tools.
- Experience with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or Pro-Engineer), GD&T, project management, and MS Office.
- Experience in automation, welding, and plating processes is a plus.
