Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a seasoned Nuclear Process Engineer in Mississauga to design, analyze and review process systems for CANDU/BWR/PWR markets. The role requires a Professional Engineer licence in Ontario and a minimum of five years of nuclear background.

You will perform thermalhydraulic evaluations, prepare engineering documents, and support proposals while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules under a hybrid work model.

Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer in Ontario or eligible for licence.
  • Minimum 5 years in process-system design/analysis for nuclear facilities.
  • Experience with heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations.
  • Familiarity with CSA N285.0, ASME III and B51 nuclear standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret design calculations, drawings and specifications.
  • Experience with site construction or commissioning is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design solutions and assessments for process systems and components.
  • Prepare/review design documents for nuclear power plants (calculations, requirements, drawings).
  • Perform thermalhydraulic evaluations on complex systems.
  • Prepare/review Engineering Quotation Requests and Tender Evaluations.
  • Prepare and/or review Engineering packages and site walkdowns.
  • Interface with stakeholders and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support preparation of engineering proposals and ensure schedule adherence.
  • Communicate clearly and write technical reports.

Overview

Your role

The qualified individual will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:



  • Provide design solutions and assessments for new, updated and modified process systems, structures and components.

  • Prepare and/or review design documents for Nuclear Power Plants; e.g., Design Calculation, Design Requirements, Assessments, Technical Specifications, Drawings, Bill of Materials, and System Code Classification.

  • Perform thermalhydraulic evaluations on complex systems.

  • Prepare and/or review Engineering Quotation Request and Tender Technical Evaluations.

  • Prepare and/or review Engineering packages.

  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required.

  • Ensure applicable code, standards and regulatory requirements are met.

  • Provide support for the preparation of Engineering proposals.

  • Ensure adherence to project delivery requirements and schedule.

  • Interface with internal and external stake holders as required.


About you


  • Engineering degree from an accredited University in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or Engineering Science.

  • Registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in process-system design/analysis, preferably providing design solutions for CANDU nuclear power plants or BWR/PWR markets.

  • Experience performing heat balance and thermalhydraulic evaluations.

  • Experience in process system design and layout.

  • Experience performing work to nuclear power plants procedures and practices and qualifications for nuclear power plants engineering activities is an asset.

  • Site experience in construction, or commissioning of plant mechanical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries is an asset.

  • Working knowledge of/experience using nuclear Codes and Standards, including CSA N285.0 and ASME Section III.

  • Working knowledge of/experience with the CSA B51 standard, ASME B31.1 codes and other nuclear-power-plant applicable standards or regulatory guides related to permanent plant components, pressure boundary equipment, and/or reactor systems.

  • Knowledge of analytical tools used for mechanical and process design (e.g., ANSYS, Mathcad, Flomaster, NUCIRC, CATHENA or similar).

  • Demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Must have excellent communication and technical writing skills.
