Your Opportunity

Stantec seeks a Process Engineer with energy industry experience and transferable skills to work on projects in oil & gas, energy transition, renewable energy, and low-carbon initiatives. You will work under guidance on various projects, evaluating, selecting, and engineering processes or products, performing simulations, calculations, and supporting fieldwork.

The role involves applying engineering knowledge and critical thinking on complex projects, including pre-feasibility, feasibility, FEED, and detailed design phases, in areas such as oil & gas, renewable energy, and chemical processing.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with engineering design activities, complete tasks timely and organized, peer review deliverables.
  • Develop process simulations using Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Flare Analyzer, Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating (EDR), Process Symmetry, ProMax, etc.
  • Create engineering drawings such as BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs.
  • Conduct process studies and analyses, providing recommendations for new and existing installations.
  • Perform process sizing calculations for equipment, piping, and instrumentation.
  • Document simulation reports, calculations, and study outcomes.
  • Support PSV sizing and overpressure risk assessments.
  • Develop process documents: heat/material balances, equipment datasheets, instrument datasheets, line designation tables, PSV lists, cause and effect diagrams, set points, and process design basis.
  • Participate in reviews and fieldwork, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
  • Maintain good client relations, stay familiar with industry codes and regulations, and uphold ethical standards with APEGA.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of process design in oil & gas, renewable energy, or refineries.
  • Experience with simulation software (Aspen HYSYS, Process Symmetry, ProMax, etc.).
  • Knowledge of piping hydraulics, line sizing, and hydraulic software (e.g., AFT).
  • Experience with BFDs, PFDs, P&IDs, and piping plans.
  • Process calculations including equipment and PSV sizing, proficiency with Excel.
  • Understanding of industry standards (API, AER, Canadian codes).
  • Experience across project lifecycle stages from concept to detailed engineering.
  • Educational requirement: Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering, 4-7 years of experience, registered with APEGA as EIT or P. Eng.

Work involves office environment and field exposure, with hybrid work options. Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
