Job description

Manufacturing Process Developer - Additive Manufacturing Technologies

Evaluate, define, develop, implement, optimize, and sustain manufacturing technologies and processes for custom products (e.g., cShell, SlimTips) based on the technology, platform, and product roadmap, with a focus on Additive Manufacturing. Implement new or adapted manufacturing processes in production, including process qualifications, up to and including the first production site. Support roll-out, transfer, scaling to further sites, and post-launch activities.

This position focuses on:

Additive Manufacturing Technologies involving generative build-up processes or methods, including necessary pre- and post-processing (materials, data, parts, subassemblies, equipment) to meet product properties and manufacturing requirements.

Responsibilities:

  1. Identify, evaluate, define, develop, and deploy optimal manufacturing technologies and processes aligned with the roadmap.
  2. Develop, adapt, optimize, implement, and qualify manufacturing processes in line with product and platform projects.
  3. Conduct benchmarking, process optimization, and manage obsolescence of manufacturing technologies.
  4. Perform process and failure analyses to ensure continuous improvement.
  5. Proactively own defined technology and process focus areas.
  6. Collaborate with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations to ensure alignment and standardization.
  7. Ensure compliance with policies, guidelines, safety, biocompatibility, workplace safety, and environmental regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree (Technical College or higher) in Materials Science, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Microtechnology.
  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing, process development, and project management.
  • Experience working in a chemistry lab with safe handling of hazardous substances.
  • Proficiency in MS Office 365 and STL software (e.g., Magics).
  • Strong analytical skills for technical problem-solving.
  • Self-driven, structured, and precise with interdisciplinary thinking.
  • Strong communication skills and team collaboration ability.

Note: A minimum internet speed of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload is required for remote/hybrid work at Sonova.
